Musicals and musical theatre provide a unique opportunity for dancers to combine dance, acting, and singing into one powerful art form. Musical theatre encourages creativity, confidence, and versatility while helping performers develop strong storytelling skills and stage presence.

Some of my favourite memories from my own dance training came from musical theatre class. It was a chance to become someone else for a while, explore different sides of my personality, and challenge myself in new ways. Through character work and performance, I gained confidence, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the art of storytelling.

I absolutely love going to watch musicals and getting lost in the performance. There is something truly special about the passion, commitment, and energy that performers bring to the stage. Whether it’s a large ensemble number, a heartfelt ballad, or a comedic scene, musical theatre has a unique ability to connect with audiences and make them feel part of the story. It is an art form that inspires, entertains, and creates lasting memories for performers and audiences alike and is an important part of the training at Dance Arts Cochrane.
