Our Story
Dance education is not just my career—it’s my passion. I grew up in a small community in Northern British Columbia, where my dance journey began and a deep love for movement and learning was formed.
After graduating, I moved to Alberta to complete the University of Calgary Dance Program, staying on to earn a degree in General Kinesiology. During my university years, I was honoured as a Canadian Millennium Laureate and received a scholarship for academic excellence.
Eager to continue my education, I then spent two years in London, England, where I completed an MSc in Dance Science and Research with distinction. While abroad, I performed with two theatre programs and had the opportunity to dance on both the Palladium stage and at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Before returning to Canada, I received the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science Student Research Award, presented my research in the Netherlands, and had my thesis published in the Journal of Dance Medicine & Science.
At a professional crossroads, I returned home and began teaching, choreographing, and adjudicating full-time. As an adjudicator, I’ve been invited to share my expertise across Canada, from Vancouver to Halifax. My teaching experience spans from nurturing tiny toes to guiding pre-professional dancers. Many former students have gone on to professional careers—joining dance companies, performing on cruise ships, and even owning their own studios. Whether they pursued dance professionally or not, I’m incredibly proud of each of them and confident they carry lifelong skills gained through their training into careers ranging from teaching to law to fashion design and more.
Cochrane, Alberta, eventually found its way into my heart. My family has now settled here long-term, and I feel deeply honoured to call this beautiful town home. From riverside walks with the dog to mountain views and open fields, Cochrane inspires me daily. Bringing my love for this community together with my passion for dance education led to the creation of Dance Arts Cochrane.
After many years in the studio environment, I truly believe that it takes a village. Through a strong, carefully built network within the dance industry, I am excited to be forming the Dance Arts Collective—a group of like-minded educators and artists who share the same values and commitment to nurturing young humans through dance. The conversations and collaborations behind this vision have been energizing, inspiring, and deeply meaningful.
I have seen firsthand the powerful impact dance education can have on a growing human’s life, and I am honoured to be part of that journey.
