After over 20 years of teaching and adjudicating, one question continues to come up: Why aren’t dancers connecting the skills they learn across different classes?
A grand battement in ballet shares the same technical foundation as one in jazz—the difference lies in dynamics and tempo, not in the core technique.
Rather than separating training by genre, we have chosen a more cohesive approach. By aligning Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, and Contemporary, dancers are able to better understand the connections between styles and apply their training more effectively.
This approach also gives our faculty the flexibility to focus on what dancers need most in the moment, maximizing the value of each class. Most importantly, it allows dancers to build deeper connections between genres, leading to stronger, more versatile performers.
Part-Time Vs Full-Time
At DAC, we believe in balance. That’s why we offer two levels of commitment to support dancers with different schedules and goals.
Our Part-Time program is perfect for dancers who are involved in other activities or are newer to intensive dance. It allows them to grow and train while keeping a manageable schedule.
Our Part-Time dancers are a valued part of our studio, and we attend competitions that recognize different levels of training so every dancer can feel confident and successful.
